Before anything else: your file must be a Google Sheet, not an Excel file. If an XLSX badge appears next to the file name, you are in Google's Office editing mode, and Google does not show the Extensions menu at all — so no add-on can run, and nothing on screen explains why. Choose File → Save as Google Sheets to create a Google Sheets copy, then work in that copy. Your original .xlsx file is not changed or deleted.

Getting started

  1. Open your spreadsheet and go to Extensions → LinkSheet for Google Sheets → Open LinkSheet.
  2. In the sidebar, choose the Google Drive™ folder that holds your files.
  3. Click Create Hyperlinks and review the results report.
  4. (Pro) Turn on Partial match if your filenames don't exactly match your cell values, add Include subfolders, or link several tabs — or all of them — at once.

Frequently asked questions

I don't see LinkSheet in the Extensions menu.

If there is no Extensions menu at all — the menu bar runs straight from Tools to Help — your file is an Excel file rather than a Google Sheet. This is normal Google behaviour, not a fault with the add-on. In Google's own words: “If ‘Add-ons’ isn't visible, you're likely in Microsoft Office editing. To use an add-on, convert your file to Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides.” Choose File → Save as Google Sheets and open the new copy — the Extensions menu then appears between Tools and Help. Your original .xlsx file is not changed or deleted.

If the Extensions menu is there but LinkSheet is not in it, reload the spreadsheet tab. The add-on appears under Extensions → LinkSheet for Google Sheets → Open LinkSheet. If it's still missing, confirm the add-on is installed for the Google account you're currently signed in to.

It says "Google hasn't verified this app."

LinkSheet's OAuth verification was approved by Google in August 2026, so you should not normally see this screen. If you do (for example on an old cached install), reload the spreadsheet and try again, or contact us at support@cropsettle.com.

No links were created / some cells didn't match.

LinkSheet matches a cell's value to a file name (case-insensitive, ignoring the file extension). If a cell didn't link, the value likely doesn't match a filename in the chosen folder. Check the results report — it lists ambiguous matches and duplicate filenames for you to resolve. With Pro, you can also turn on Partial match to link cells whose values don't exactly match a filename.

Will it change or delete my data?

Your values stay your values. Create adds hyperlinks to matching cells: text cells keep their text, and number cells are linked with a HYPERLINK formula whose result is the number itself, so SUM and arithmetic keep working. It skips cells that already have a link, never touches your other formulas or pivot-table output, and never modifies your Google Drive™. Clear Hyperlinks removes every link in the workbook — including the HYPERLINK formulas Create writes (the number or text they showed stays in the cell) — and, with a folder chosen, re-enters number cells matching a file so links the add-on cannot read back are removed too. To undo any run, use File → Version history in Google Sheets™.

What does LinkSheet access?

Read-only, metadata-only Drive access (file names and links only — never file contents) and the active spreadsheet. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.

How do I remove the add-on?

Go to Extensions → Add-ons → Manage add-ons, find LinkSheet, and choose Uninstall.

Pro & license keys

What does Pro add, and what does it cost?

Pro unlocks Partial match, Include subfolders, linking all tabs at once, and unlimited Repair. It is a one-time $14.99 license key purchased through Gumroad — no subscription, no renewal. The free tier keeps working forever: exact matching, your chosen folder, the sheet you're viewing for Create Hyperlinks, every sheet you tick for Repair Hyperlinks, and your first few repair runs.

I bought a Pro key — where is it?

License keys are issued individually and emailed within one business day of purchase, to the email address you used at checkout. There is nothing to download. If it has been more than one business day, email support@cropsettle.com with your Gumroad order number and we'll sort it out.

How do I activate my key?

Open the LinkSheet sidebar (Extensions → LinkSheet for Google Sheets → Open LinkSheet), paste the key into the Enter license key box, and click Unlock. Pro features turn on immediately. The key is verified inside the add-on — no account to create, and it works on any Google account you use: paste the same key into the sidebar on each.

My key won't unlock.

Paste the whole key exactly as it appears in the email (it looks like SERIAL-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX). If it still won't unlock, email support@cropsettle.com with your order number.

What about refunds?

Pro license keys purchased through Gumroad carry a 30-day money-back guarantee. Contact support@cropsettle.com with your order number.

What is Repair, and why did it stop after a few runs?

Repair Hyperlinks re-points links broken by an Excel import (dead file:/// paths and relative paths) at the matching Google Drive™ file, by exact filename — it always searches the folder's subfolders too, on every plan. Ambiguous names, links to a folder rather than a file, and same-name-different-type files are reported, never guessed, and every skipped link is listed with the filename Repair looked for. Repair is free for your first few runs (the sidebar shows how many are left); after that it needs a Pro key.
